SCOTS golf ace Robert MacIntyre has won his first PGA tour win.

He held off the American Benjamin Griffin (-15) by one stroke to claim the Canadian Open.

Speaking afterwords, he told CBS: “I’m speechless.

“This is just everything, for me and my family, for my girlfriend, my team. I can’t believe it.

“I’m crying with joy and laughing because I didn’t think it was possible.”

MacIntyre, 27, has been near the top of the leader board for the majority of the RBC Canadian Open at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ontario.

And it was was a victory for all the family in the end.

Previously on tour his DAD saved his round from disaster.

Father Dougie was drafted in to help his son on the bag with the golfer currently in between caddies.

MacIntyre attributed his earlier on-course turnaround to a stern pep talk from his dad in the middle of play.

MacIntyre said: “He was having a wee go at me when I was walking from the 10th tee down to the fairway.

“Look, he was a sporting guy, he knows how to win, knows how to lose, he’s been through it all.

“He could see my head going a little bit and he’s like: ‘What have you been working on for the last eight weeks, 10 weeks?’ when I realised what was the problem.

“I kind of flipped into that mode and tried to find the positive in everything.”

MacIntyre revealed his father’s advice hits differently and it was just what he needed this week.

He added: “It hits differently because he properly means it.

“I know the [other] caddies mean it for another reason, but my dad wants me to do well because we’re blood. There’s nothing other than pride and guts and what we’re trying to do. He’s been through thick and thin with me.”

Things did not go smoothly for the champ who has banked himself almost £1.7m from the victory.

Earlier in the round, he fumed at the DRONE pilot.

He had a rage at an official on the ninth when put off by a drone pilot for the TV coverage.
